Welcome

Church should be more than friendly. It should change your life.

We are a family who believe that church should not only be friendly and inviting but also a place where lives are radically transformed. Our Sunday mornings begin with a warm welcome and an invitation to join us in celebrating the good news about Jesus Christ.

We are also very active in our local community, working alongside other agencies and running our own projects in order to express the love of God in a practical way.

Your first Sunday

Nobody will make you stand up and say who you are.

Services last about ninety minutes: singing, prayer, preaching and contributions from groups around the church. Come as you are — there is no dress code, and you are free to simply observe or join in as much as feels comfortable.

10.30am

Aim to arrive about fifteen minutes early and someone from the welcome team will meet you at the front.

The music

Organ & band

A healthy mix of traditional church organ and a contemporary band, with words up on the screens.

Your children

Three groups

Sparklers for under-2s, Ignite for 3–11s and Rock Solid for 11–18s. Every leader is DBS-checked.

Afterwards

Tea & coffee

Refreshments and conversation, plus a prayer team available at the end of the service.

In the community

Open through the week, not just on Sunday.

Some of what happens in this building has nothing to do with a service. If you need help with debt, want to practise your English, or just need somewhere safe to sit for an afternoon, these are for you — free, and open to anyone in Northampton.

  • Christians Against Poverty

    We host Northampton's CAP Debt Centre — free, confidential debt counselling for anyone in the town.

  • Renew 147 — Wellbeing Café

    A Thursday afternoon café where anyone can find quiet company, a hobby to pick up, and a safe place to be.

    Thursdays, 1.00pm–3.30pm

  • ESOL — English Conversation Class

    A free, friendly Monday morning class for adults learning English, run by an experienced teacher.

    Mondays, 9.30–11.30am (term time)

  • Eco Church

    Registered with A Rocha's Eco Church scheme — practical ways to care for God's earth.

139 years on the same corner.

Our chapel was built in 1887 by H H Dyer & Son and is a locally listed building — red brick, honey stone, and a row of pointed windows above the door where BAPTIST CHAPEL is still carved into the stone.

The building has watched this street change for well over a century. The welcome inside it has not.

What we believe

The heart of it, in nine lines.

We have adopted the basis of faith of the Evangelical Alliance. Here are four of the nine.

  • The Bible

    The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written word of God — fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.

  • Jesus Christ

    The incarnation of God's eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ — born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.

  • The cross

    The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.

  • Salvation

    The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

You will find us on Kettering Road, next to the Open Door Centre. Parking at the rear is very limited — there is street parking nearby and the Racecourse car park a short walk away.
